George Byrne was born on July 12th, 1976 in Sydney, Australia. The only boy of four children of Sydney-based Robin and Jane Byrne, George attended Fort St. High School and has a Bachelor of Arts from the Sidney University and a Bachelor of Visual Arts from the Sidney College of the Arts. George worked and travelled as a photographer before the melodies in his head drove him into the studio. He had been writing song for a couple of years. Backpacking all by himself through Spain in 2003, he finally put his act together. He "bought a guitar from a busker and a little tape dictaphone and wrote a heap of songs on the road." Shortly after he returned to Australia, he hooked up with producer/drummer Tim Powles and after many nights in Tim's studio, the 5 track Iron Skies was born.
